The cost of electricity is significantly high in Kenya. In fact, when compared with our neighbors it is right at the top. But is it true that nothing can be done to correct this? Are we putting KenGen, a state-owned enterprise into good use? Isn't it a known fact that energy from KenGen is much cheaper than that from IPPs? What are we doing about that? Plus, energy storage systems are increasingly being incorporated to support grid-scale power, especially to replace expensive gas/diesel peaking plants. Where is Kenya on this?
