Thousands of people protested outside the parliament in Portugal against the housing crisis. On Tuesday, in the capital, Lisbon, they took to the streets to demonstrate against soaring housing costs and police crackdowns on housing rights activists. Since 2017, home prices in the country have more than doubled, and rents for new lease agreements have also nearly doubled. Young people have been hit the hardest, as their incomes have not kept pace with the rising costs of housing and rent. The residents staged their protest while the parliament was debating the proposed budget for 2027. Prior to this, on Sunday, police conducted an operation to remove tents set up by housing rights activists in Lisbon and Porto, during which allegations of police using batons against the protesters emerged. Jamuna Television, also known as Jamuna TV, is a 24-hour news and current affairs television channel in Bangladesh.
