1½ miles east of Ambleside in the English Lake District lies Wansfell, a Wainwright, and a perennial favourite walk for visitors to this Lakeland town. The most popular of its two summits, with a glorious view over Windermere, is Wansfell Pike, although highest point of the fell is Baystones. In this film, a follow up to our longer film of Wansfell (   • Wansfell walk from Ambleside with stunning...  ), we show the route from Wansfell Pike to Baystones, the true summit of Wansfell, and back again. No music or talking - just walking! The Second Edition of Wainwright's The Far Eastern Fells notes, "the recognised summit of Wansfell is marked by a slender tapering cairn about four feet high, but the 2½" map shows a spot height farther north, beyond the fence and broken wall, which suggests that this is the highest point." Follow us for more films of our walks, and visit our website: www.onyvafilms.com to read more, and to suggest other walks that you would like to see.
