Morbius is Sony's latest attempt at expanding their Spider-Verse and while a Morbius movie could've been a good character driven film exploring one of Marvel's more interesting Spider-Man rogues, the film we got...let's just say Morbius is a DISASTER. Morbius is not only a bad movie, Morbius is one of the worst comic book movies of all time and the primary reason has to do with the fact that Sony didn't have an ounce of care for the character or his fanbase. They simply saw Jared Leto's Morbius as a means to expand spiderman adjacent characters and create a universe that piggybacks off of the mostly solid foundation of the MCU. Morbius breaks all of the rules established by Spider-Man No Way Home and the breaking of the multiverse in order to shoehorn in Michael Keaton's Vulture in a nonsensical attempt to set up yet ANOTHER Sinister Six movie. On top of Morbius being an incredibly cynical piece of content, it hardly does enough to be considered a film. There's barely a story, no character development, it rips of Batman Begins, has horrible haphazard and choppy pacing, and doesn't even lean into the Vampirical horror roots that makes a character like Morbius great to begin with. All in all...Morbius is just another cheap ploy from Sony as they prey upon the good will of Spider-Man fans.
