How Miami Neighborhoods Change | Juan Mullerat

What helps a neighborhood evolve without losing the people, places, and character that make it special? Subscribe to City Built:    / @citybuiltsessions   In this episode of City Built Sessions, host Irvans Augustin sits down with Juan Mullerat, founding principal of Plusurbia Design, to explore how thoughtful urban design, planning, and community engagement can shape the future of Miami's neighborhoods. From Wynwood and Little Havana to the Rickenbacker Causeway and The Underline, their conversation examines how cities grow, how development changes neighborhoods, and why the public spaces between buildings matter just as much as the buildings themselves. Juan shares his perspective on the relationship between design, economic development, mobility, neighborhood identity, and the people who experience cities every day. The discussion also explores the Shoreline concept for the Rickenbacker Causeway, the importance of connectivity, and the opportunities and tensions that emerge when communities experience rapid growth. *IN THIS CONVERSATION* How neighborhoods change and what makes them distinctive Wynwood's transformation and its lessons for Miami Urban design, development, and neighborhood identity Little Havana and the importance of preserving local character The role of public spaces in connecting communities The Underline and new approaches to urban connectivity The Shoreline concept for the Rickenbacker Causeway Building cities around people, not just buildings *CONNECT WITH JUAN* Juan Mullerat — Founding Principal, Plusurbia Design Plusurbia Design: https://www.plusurbia.com/ Shoreline Project: https://plusurbia.com/project/the-sho... *ABOUT CITY BUILT* Cities are known by their skylines.
