How much real-world range can the Mahindra XEV 9S deliver on the highway?
I put my 79 kWh Mahindra XEV 9S through a real highway range test on Hyderabad's Nehru Outer Ring Road (ORR), cruising at around 100 km/h.
The XEV 9S delivered an impressive 7.4 km/kWh during the test. The car reached 103 km/h at one point, while the trip average speed was 98 km/h.
XEV 9S HIGHWAY RANGE TEST
📍 Location: Hyderabad ORR
🚗 Car: Mahindra XEV 9S
🔋 Battery: 79 kWh
⚡ Driving Mode: Everyday
🚗 Cruising Speed: Around 100 km/h
📊 Peak Speed: 103 km/h
📊 Average Speed: 98 km/h
⚡ Efficiency: 7.4 km/kWh
🌡️ Temperature: 27°C
RANGE CALCULATION
Based on the measured efficiency:
7.4 km/kWh × 79 kWh = 584.6 km
That's approximately 585 km of theoretical range at the same efficiency.
But I also looked at the actual battery consumption during the drive.
43.3 km travelled using approximately 8% battery.
43.3 ÷ 8 × 100 = approximately 541 km
So the observed battery-consumption method points to approximately 540 km under similar conditions.
This gives us two useful numbers:
⚡ ~585 km based on displayed efficiency
🔋 ~540 km based on observed battery consumption
These are extrapolations from this particular drive, not a guaranteed range figure. Real-world range will vary with speed, traffic, temperature, road conditions, air conditioning, payload and driving style.
The interesting question is: how does the XEV 9S actually perform when you drive it at around 100 km/h on a real highway?
Watch the complete test to see the real numbers and understand the highway efficiency, battery consumption and range of the XEV 9S.
