Can Comedians Still Say Anything? | Chappelle, Cancel Culture & Comedy

Can comedians still say anything—and does that mean we have to like it? Patrick and Mr. Ray debate Dave Chappelle, cancel culture, and where a joke crosses the line, bringing American, British, and Jamaican perspectives to the conversation. From Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor to Jamie Foxx, Bernie Mac, Lenny Henry, and Oliver Samuels, we revisit the comedians and TV shows that shaped our sense of humor. We disagree over Chappelle’s Show, talk Jamaican household comedy, and hear how Mr. Ray went to a comedy show—and became part of the act. Later, a viewer conversation opens up a bigger question: what can Black Americans and Black Britons learn from each other? We talk identity, travel, curiosity, and finding common ground across the Atlantic. Who’s your funniest comedian, and which joke or performance makes your case? Tell us in the comments.
