I had to cross Colombo to pick up my guitar from the luthier, so I put $15 (5,000 Sri Lankan Rupees) in my pocket and decided to see what I could find along the way.
This wasn't just about spending the money. I wandered through Colombo checking the prices of everyday things—from fruit and groceries to toiletries, clothes and electronics—and bought a few things along the way too.
I paid for buses, tuk-tuks and PickMe, grabbed lunch, coffee, a coconut and spicy fruit from a street vendor, checked out some ceramic plates, and even showed you where I get my haircut in Colombo and how much it costs.
So what can you actually find with $15 while wandering around Sri Lanka's biggest city?
Some prices were cheap. Some surprised me. And a few might start a debate. 🇱🇰
What surprised you the most? And if you live in Sri Lanka, what did I overpay for?
