Learn how to clean, reset, and format a USB flash drive using DISKPART, a built-in Windows command-line utility. In this step-by-step tutorial, I'll show you how to remove existing USB partitions, create a new partition, and format your USB drive for everyday use. When is this useful? You've used a USB drive to install Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, Linux Mint, etc.) and want to reuse it. You've previously created Windows installation media. Your USB drive has multiple partitions. You want to restore a USB drive for storing documents, photos, videos, and other files. DISKPART Commands Used: diskpart list disk select disk 1 clean create partition primary format fs=ntfs quick exit ⚠️ IMPORTANT: These commands erase the selected drive's partition information and make existing data inaccessible. Always back up important files and verify the correct disk number before running the 'clean' command. Disk 1 is used in this demonstration; your USB drive may have a different disk number.
