This is the way Indian women used to wear Saree prior to British invasion.
Blouse and Petticoat are introduced by Britishers. Britishers felt that it is indecent to just wrap Saree on whole body. But now if someone wear Saree without Blouse or Petticoat, she will be considered indecent and definition of decency have changed over time.
In past time, it is tradition to wear cloths without any type of stitching. Males usually wear Dhoti, and women wear saree in a way that cover her front body almost completely. In many religious rituals also it is a tradition. Socially many tribal women and people in many states of India do not wear blouse or bra under saree, and they are never criticized or starred by men at all. Maintaining social respect is also a tradition working here.
It is not about boldness but comfort. Having roots in the rural hinterland of tropical regions of India, I have grown up seeing many old women wearing cotton sarees without blouses to be able to handle the hot climate. There is nothing bold about it or the lack thereof. It is about comfort.
It's absolutely fine and beautiful to experience ❤️
