Justin Shubow, former Chairman of the U.S. Fine Arts Commission, is currently the president of the National Civic Art Society, a D.C. non-profit dedicated to promoting beautiful civic architecture in America. Sir Winston Churchill said, "We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us". Far from being merely symbolic, architecture continues to influence our everyday lives through it's constant impression on our senses. Shubow visited Meriwether Academy in Nashville to speak at our latest special event, The Architecture of Our Glory, where he made the case for classicism over modernity in civic design. The event was hosted at the Historic Belmont Mansion with 85 gentlemen gathering from all over the Southeast to hear Shubow speak. Please enjoy this recording of our event and let us know in the comments what you think of Shubow's argument!
