Final Fantasy IX was intended to be a salute to the history of the Final Fantasy series. If ever a game was a love letter, it was Final Fantasy IX. It is filled to the brim with allusions and references to previous games., but also stepped away from the modern style FF7 and Final Fantasy VIII had introduced, returning to the series’ roots with a more fantastical setting Whether it’s the characters, the soundtrack, the locations, summons..
