Viehscheid Schöllang - Almabtrieb im Allgäu The Viehscheid (traditional Alpine cattle drive or Almabtrieb) marks the end of the summer grazing season, where young livestock are brought back down from the mountains into the valley. Around 600 to 700 animals descended from four mountain pastures (Entschenalpe, Hintere Seealpe, Gutenalpe, and Käseralpe) The lead cow was beautifully decorated with an elaborate headdress made of alpine flowers, mirrors, and a cross to ward off evil spirits. Following the arrival, celebrations moved to the festival tent (Festzelt) featuring live traditional brass band music by the local Musikkapelle Schöllang and Rubihorn Musikanten, alongside local beer and food
