The Little Console That Could – A Tribute to the Nintendo GameCube
Sometimes, trying your best doesn’t guarantee success — and that’s how I feel the GameCube was remembered. Released in 2001, it faced fierce competition from the PlayStation 2 and the newly arrived Xbox. It was overlooked, misunderstood, and often dismissed. But for those of us who grew up with it, the GameCube was a gem — Nintendo’s little diamond.
In this video, I look back at the GameCube: its compact design, the legendary WaveBird controller, the Game Boy Player, and the unforgettable games that defined its legacy. From Luigi’s Mansion and Rogue Squadron II to Twilight Princess and Super Mario Sunshine, this console delivered innovation, charm, and some of the best gameplay of its generation.
I also share how I’ve integrated the GameCube into my modern setup — using original hardware, a CRT TV, and a 4K scaler to bring these classics to life. Whether it’s racing with the amazing analog triggers of the WaveBird, or playing Game Boy Advance titles on the big screen.
