BJD president and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has opposed the legislation, arguing that it threatens Odisha’s fiscal autonomy and mineral-related rights. He has urged Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to convene an all-party meeting and a special Assembly session. The BJP, meanwhile, has rejected the criticism and argued that Odisha will continue to receive major mining revenues.
