I'm exhausted. Finding peace solo camping on the river | Oregon Coast Range 🌊

After 6 weeks away, I finally returned to the river for a much-needed solo camping reset at Spruce Run Campground on the Nestucca River in the Oregon Coast Range. Between the summer heat, wildfires in Oregon and Washington, and a draining 3-night adventure in Bigfoot country, I was running on empty. As a solo female camper in the PNW, sometimes the best medicine is a simple trip back to the water. I returned to Spruce Run Campground for the second time. The first time was winter camping, when I had the place mostly to myself. This time, I took a chance on a first-come, first-served spot right on the river—and snagged the very last one. While the campground was busy with summer crowds, the "summer green" was beautiful, though I’ll admit I missed the quiet of a winter solo camp. This trip was all about simplicity. No complicated meals or elaborate camping gear setup. Just a freeze-dried dinner, instant oatmeal, and coffee by the river. I even brought Sassy the Sasquatch along—see if you can spot her! I woke up to loud crows, misty fog, and a few sprinkles. But that didn't matter. I was back camping by the water, and that's all I needed.
