Dr. Kiran Bedi lauds "MRF" Puducherry| Weekend Round

As a part of On-going mission "Water Rich Puducherry", Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor Dr. Kiran Bedi along with Team RajNivas travelled by a Bus together on their 168th Morning Weekend Round to continue inspecting areas in Puducherry to check on Tubewells/Borewells, water harvesting, and more,.. The team first visited an educational Institution followed by one Industry(MRF) It found a stark comparison between water management of the two. The educational Institution namely Mahatma Gandhi Medical college and Research institution had no ground water harvesting run off systems. Nor did they have systems in place which would indicate water table monitoring practices. While the MRF had every proper system in place. Such as a) water table data, b) water balance sheet, c) water conservation activity plan, d) major conservation activities under taken during the year, e) they had a year ahead plan of water generation and conservation, f) no discharge of effluence, g) using drip irrigation even of recycled water, h) using sewerage treatment even for processing by further treatment, I) they had reduced substantially consumption in making every tyre, j) and they digging the phase two of a storm water drain on their own to further improve their water harvesting.. The visiting team of experts comprising of Chief Engineer PWD, Ground Water Authorities, Science and Technology, have decided to share and promote the good practices being followed by MRF to all other industries and make it an integral part of their license/ permit of tube well conditions. RajNivas to celebrate Van Mahotsav on July 7th which will bring together major water consuming Industries/Institutions and leading farmers to share and learn to make and keep Puducherry Water Rich. NGOs working in the field to be the special invitees. A film of all the field visits by the water rich team to be screened.
