From Family Values to Visible Character | Parent Academy Character Development Lesson 3

How do we move family values from words on a wall to behaviour we can see every day? In Lesson Three of the GCI Parents Academy’s Character Development series, we explore how parents can intentionally help children turn values into visible habits and strong character. In this lesson, parents will learn how to: • Choose meaningful family values • Explain values in simple, child-friendly language • Translate values into observable behaviour • Create opportunities for children to practise them • Model the character they want their children to develop • Encourage progress without using shame or punishment Children learn values not only from what parents say, but also from what they repeatedly see, hear and practise at home.
