Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 - Quality vs Performance Frame Rate Test!

A frame rate test of the Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo on Nintendo Switch 2, comparing the game’s quality priority and performance priority settings with an unlocked frame rate, using my own frame rate and resolution analysis tools. Tested on Nintendo Switch 2. The video is split into two sections. The first shows each mode on its own, one after the other. The second puts quality and performance priority side by side for each scenario. With an unlocked frame rate, neither mode reaches a consistent 60fps, but there’s a clear gap between the two. Quality priority averages around 39fps, sitting between the mid 30s and low 40s depending on the scenario and dipping into the low 30s in heavier moments. Performance priority averages around 48fps, sitting between the mid 40s and low 50s and peaking in the high 50s. The trade-off is image quality. Perceived sharpness sits at around 92 to 94% of the recorded resolution in quality priority, compared with around 83 to 85% in performance priority. For a fast, reactive hunting game, the extra 9 or so frames in performance priority are likely worth the small drop in sharpness for most players. My frame rate tool measures real frame rate by detecting duplicate frames, so it shows the true FPS rather than the recording’s frame rate. It also logs frame times and 1% lows, which reveal stutter that an average figure hides. Monster Hunter Wilds launches on Switch 2 on December 4th, and the demo is free on the eShop now.
