Elizabeth Lake - 2026 - Glacier National Park

The hike up to the headwaters of the Belly River involves passing the powerful and stunning Dawn Mist Falls, Elizabeth Lake, and up to Helen Lake where Ahern Glacier begins the flows in waterfalls to what becomes the Belly River. We needed to do a Common Loon survey on both Elizabeth Lake and Helen Lake, a Mountain Goat survey at Elizabeth Lake, and check out a Golden Eagle nest at Helen Lake. It was a fantastic backpacking trip.
