Real drum editing in Logic Pro on a live multitrack session I recorded: comping the best fills across takes, flattening without merging, and quantizing only the hits that carry the groove so the drums stay human. Then I phase-align all 16 mics with Auto-Align 2 and play you the before and after. You'll also see why I have the drummer record one-shot samples at the end of every session, why one-click quantize is the drum version of Auto-Tune on zero, and the Morgan Rose (Sevendust) trick of nudging the chorus early for energy. It's the same editing approach I've used on records across a career that includes two Diamond plaques. This is an excerpt from a weekly live workshop in my mixden.tv community, where I work on real records step by step in every major DAW and share a list of free plugins so you can follow along.
