Exclusive interview: Disney’s Hudson Stone on fame, firsts and Camp Rock 3

Hudson Stone is on the verge of a major breakthrough. The 14-year-old rising star, who will play Desi in Disney’s Camp Rock 3, sat down to talk about landing the role, stepping into a franchise so many fans already love, and how he’s handling the fact that his life could be about to change in a very big way. In this interview, Hudson reflects on the surreal moment he was asked to audition, the unexpected twists in the casting process, and why joining Camp Rock 3 felt instantly different. A lifelong fan of the original films, he explains the pressure and privilege of helping carry forward the legacy created by the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, while also introducing a new cast, fresh storylines and a new energy for the next generation. Hudson also opens up about staying grounded while so much is happening at once. Even with a major Disney role, music, touring and growing attention, he says his family, friends and life outside work are what keep him balanced. From basketball and surfing to simply being a normal teenager, he’s determined not to lose sight of who he is as his profile grows. He also shares why Camp Rock 3 will strike the right balance between nostalgia and something new, and why fans of the original movies have plenty to be excited about. This is a thoughtful and honest conversation with a young performer who seems to have both feet on the ground, even as his career begins to take off.
