Short one today - Last summer I filmed the process of replacing the starter in this 1974 BMW R90/6 that has been featured pretty heavily on this channel. I was pretty busy last year, so I'm just getting around to cutting the video now, oh well. It's one of the few parts we didn't replace in the original build, due to budget constraints. Fortunately, it's a fairly easy fix.
In this video, the original Bosch starter gets replaced with a new smaller and stronger unit from EME/Enduralast. This isn't a sponsored video or anything, just letting you know. The process would be the same if you refurbished your original starter, or bought a remanufactured OEM unit.
The replacement procedure would be similiar for most 70's-90's airheads, though later models have a more complicated airbox removal procedure - I would go reference the manual or perhaps another video for how to do that correctly. Actually, I have a '92 R100GSPD, maybe I should make a video on that?? Also, this means I own two airheads for some reason.
That's right, the BMW R90/6 bobber I built a few years ago is now part of my personal collection. It's funny, I keep thinking to myself that I "bought it back" but I never actually owned this bike! It was a commissioned build on behalf of another person. However, I put so much time, effort, literal blood and sweat into this thing - heart, too - that I guess I mentally considered it 'mine'. I think it's like an artist who sells a painting - they may not own it, but it's 'theirs'. Anyway, that's enough pretentiousness for today. Thanks for watching! See you all soon.
