1981 Brinks Heist: The Hunt for Matulu Shakur | The FBI Files | S3 E14

A suburban bank stop turned into a war zone in 1981. What began as a Brinks pickup in Nyack spiraled into a deadly ambush and a nationwide manhunt. Follow the red van, the decoy moving trucks, and a chaotic roadside shootout that stunned Rockland County. Inside safe houses from East Orange to Greenwich Village, agents uncover disguises, bomb manuals, and an unexpected ledger. Names emerge: Judy Clark, Kathy Boudin, David Gilbert, and a shadowy leader tying it all together. Wiretaps at 85 Barrow Street hint at an even darker plan, while a Most Wanted fugitive slips out a back way. Years later, a quiet trail in Los Angeles, a basketball crowd, and a late-night rendezvous set the stage for a pivotal move. From the Weather Underground to the Black Liberation Army, The FBI Files pieces together how “the Family” plotted, moved money, and evaded capture. See how a tiny detail, a single fingerprint, and a stolen credit trail break the case wide open. Watch to discover what agents found, who talked, and what finally closed the net. #TheFBIFiles #BrinksRobbery #NyackShootout #MatuluShakur #FBI #TrueCrime #WeatherUnderground
