He didn’t want to join Dempo. What followed was a 15-year journey that would shape Clifford Miranda’s entire football career. In this episode of Roots to Boots, Clifford takes us back to his early days in Goa, his move to Tata Football Academy, and the circumstances that eventually took him to Dempo. He talks about growing alongside one of Indian football’s most successful teams, winning five national league titles, playing in the AFC Cup, making his India debut and lifting trophies with the national team. But the story doesn’t end with his playing career. Clifford opens up about leaving football while he was still at his best, finding his way into coaching, winning the Super Cup with Odisha FC, working with some of India’s biggest clubs and eventually becoming a head coach. Today, he leads Chennaiyin FC - continuing a journey that started with a kid playing football in Goa.
