Why Gen Z Is Choosing Blue Collar Over Office Jobs? (Wasted Education?) | Gen Z Crash Course S3 EP5

Special thanks to SMRT. In Singapore, university is seen as the default path to success, and blue collar work as what you settle for when that path does not work out. Jayrius and Jia Hao chose it anyway. Jayrius is 23 and a bus captain with SMRT. He has loved buses since he was a kid, and driving one was always the plan. Jia Hao is 27 and an NUS graduate with first class honours. He could have taken a corporate job, but chose to service aircon units with his father instead. Both are using social media to show what their work really looks like and to raise the standards of their trades. And as AI reshapes office work, their stories raise a question many of us avoid: are the careers Singapore overlooks worth less, or have we just learned to see them that way?
