Advanced carbons in asphalt applications

The Western Research Institute (WRI) is actively developing Renewable Upcycling Materials and Asphalt Technologies (RenuMAT) to decarbonize the construction industry by incorporating advanced carbon materials, biogenic carbon, and waste-based products into asphalt binders. Their research focuses on creating sustainable, high-performance alternatives to traditional petroleum-based asphalt. This webinar explores how the use of biomass derived materials, including biochar, lignin and other carbon forms, can improve and extend the life of asphalt roads and products.
