Porto Capo d’Orlando, only 45 minutes from Cefalù, is a picturesque gateway to the sea, only a few miles from the iconic Aeolian islands. Recently finished after decades of being incomplete, it has quickly become a symbol of beauty and a landmark of Sicilian tourist life. Capo d’Orlando Marina was officially opened in July 2017, perched on the ruins of a former port, as a way for lucky visitors to discover the charm of the north-eastern coast of Sicily, and giving the possibility to reach the Aeolian Islands faster and in a more direct way. Already enthralled by the startling beauty of the Messina Province of Capo d’Orlando, those who reach the port can enjoy a unique view of the waterfront. Here there is a well-organised port structure with a walkway that overlooks the sea on one side, while on the other side you can take advantage of the myriad of shops and clubs, set in a perfect holiday atmosphere. Porto di Capo d’Orlando offers a variety of services, such as mooring assistance for boat owners (with over 500 berths available), commercial spaces, and a large free parking for those arriving from the mainland. Sea, boats, shops, a spacious and functional port – all these add to the great touristic nature of this beautiful seaside town. Inside the port area, there is a route that allows a glimpse into the ancient Cave del Mercadante, a protected archaeological site. From here, the rocks that are extracted from the sea are used as millstones in local mills.
