First aired on 17 January 1987 on BBC 2 (625 line PAL, colour, analogue TV). It was viewed by about 1.2 Million people, according to BARB. Recorded and transmitted 'live' from BBC Television Centre Studio 1. The reason I say 'live' is because it wasn't ... after the new year (1987) the Management of BBC Continuing Education (Television) decided that Micro Live would be recorded and then transmitted 'as live'. As you will see, the date offered by OAG is 'today 15-01-1987'. Source of this is from a VHS tape so apologies for the quality! Mind you - it is good enough to see the 'hop and weave' on the telecine, for those of us old enough to know about TK. Three items in this episode: "Computers for the terrified", "Modems and what you can do with them" and "Radio communications in the US". This programme was presented by Lesley Judd and Fred Harris. It covered subjects that are pre-internet like 'Computers, what are they?', What can I use a modem for?' and "How the USA uses the 800Mhz band in Florida ..." Remember, all this was not only pre-internet it was also early days for mobile telephones (cell phones) and modems were new as well. The 405 line (VHF) band had only just been 'sold off' so DAB was just a twinkle in the eyes of some engineers somewhere ... Nostalgia, nostalgia - where are you now? Anyway, enjoy the history lesson! Note: No copyright infringement is intended. The video will not be 'monetised' and will remain so. The purpose of this upload is to provide a history lesson and to show how things have changed over the last, nearly, thirty years. Whilst rooting around in my 'den' I located some scripts and technical information for MICRO LIVE and MICRO FILE. I have scanned them in as .pdf's. ** The script for the last ever programme is in this collection ** They are publicly available in this directory here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folder... Please feel free to download anything from the folder ...
