THE HISTORY OF BARGOED.

Recorded on Monday the 25th of September 2023. I take you on a history tour of my home town of Bargoed, a former mining town in the Caerphilly county borough of the South Wales valleys. Once part of the Rhymney valley . 17 miles from Cardiff, 8 miles north of Caerphilly. The actress Doris Hare was in a travelling theatre near factory road. The actor Luke Evans was born in the neighbouring village of Aberbargoed. Doctor Who:" The Green Death" was filmed very close by at Ogilvie Colliery in the village of Deri. Actor David Jason used to come to visit his uncle Idris just five miles away. David Jason is best known as Del boy in "Only fools and Horses". James Fox who came 16th in the Eurovision song contest in 2004. WWF Wrestler Tegan Fox is from Bargoed. Bargoed was known as " The metropolis of the valleys" with people coming all over the valleys to the town Emporium.
