Easy clay sculpture tutorial: sculpting a minimal figure

In this video, we hand build a minimalist ceramic sculpture from a single block of clay. The sculpture starts as a simple rectangular block. With a few carefully placed cuts, the basic form begins to emerge. We then add several pieces of clay to develop the shape and gradually turn it into a simple, minimal figurative sculpture. The sculpture is initially built solid. Once the form is complete and firm enough to handle, it needs to be cut open and hollowed out to make it suitable for firing. A small opening is also made in the bottom to allow gases to escape during firing.
