Birding NE Brazil part 1 (Arrival to Fortaleza, birding SESC Iparana)

In October 2012 we went on an organized birding trip to north-eastern Brazil. The main cause was to find the endemics in that area, we visited a few hotspots in the states of Ceará, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Seregipe, Bahia and a short visit to NE Minas Gerais. This is part one, which only covers October 1. We arrived late on Sept 30, one day early, to the airport in Fortaleza. From there we was whisked away to SESC Iparana where we spent the next 24 hours. We had almost the whole of Oct 1 to fight jetlag and bird the extensive premises of the acommodations. The habitat is hot, windy and dry. Not that many bird species around, but it's always nice to start soft and check out what you can at your leisure. At 6 PM our guide Ciro Albano and our half of the group went back to Fortaleza airport to meet the other 3 group members arriving from Sweden. After that we had a late transfer by car to Icapui.
