See Amid the Winter’s Snow – Alto Highlighted | Dan Forrest

Rehearsal version of “See Amid the Winter’s Snow”, arranged by Dan Forrest, with the alto part highlighted. “See Amid the Winter’s Snow” is a 19th-century English Christmas carol on a text by Edward Caswall, with the tune “Humility” by John Goss. The text contemplates the Christ Child in the manger and contrasts his humble birth with his divine nature. Dan Forrest’s 2016 arrangement is written for SATB choir and piano, with optional string quartet and percussion or full orchestra. Beginning slowly, freely, with wonder, it gradually expands in texture, intensity, and harmonic richness while preserving the tenderness and contemplative character of the text. Dan Forrest is an American composer, pianist, and educator, widely recognized for his sacred and concert choral music. His works are performed by choirs throughout many countries and are known for their expressive vocal writing, luminous harmonies, and richly textured accompaniments. The alto part is highlighted to help singers study and prepare their line within the full choral texture. This video is intended only as a rehearsal aid for choir members. It is not an official recording, concert performance, or commercial release. Voices were generated digitally with ACE Studio as a study guide for choral practice. The full choir version and the other highlighted voice-part versions are also available.
