Packington's Pound (Anon.) | Classical Guitar

Filmed this on the third day of our England trip but needed extra time to blur out people's faces. We took a day trip to Exeter and visited the town's fifteenth century cathedral, which my family visited many years ago when my dad was growing up. I'm playing a popular Elizabethan tune called Packington's Pound, which tells the story of a beggar who is dared to swim down the River Thames for money, but then is saved by the queen. The version of the tune I play in this video is attributed to Francis Cutting, an English lutenist who lived from 1550 to 1603. It has been thought that Cutting is the composer of the tune, but this is not certain.
