In this video, which is a part of our series, Female Led Movie Reviews, we discuss "Looking For Mr. Goodbar", which was written and directed by Richard Brooks and starred Diane Keaton.
This is a thought provoking, emotional and controversial movie about a coming of age story, where a young woman who teaches deaf children during the day, is also exploring her own sexuality and living independently from her tough Irish Catholic father.
At the time of it's release Looking For Mr. Goodbar was a commercial success, but received mainly poor reviews, with the exception of the great performances, especially by Diane Keaton.
We talk with Vanessa Buttino in our video review about this film. We each have different takes on the messages the Director entailed, the structure of the movie, the motivations of the characters, etc.
It's a subjective movie, which we all mutually agree could have been much better if it had stayed true to the book.
What do you think the message of the movie is?
