STRONG & COURAGEOUS | Nitzavim–Vayelech — Deuteronomy 29–31 What does it really mean to be strong and courageous? In Nitzavim–Vayelech, Moses calls Israel to stand before Adonai and enter into a covenant that reaches beyond their own generation. But the portion also warns about the danger of a stubborn heart—the hidden belief that we can follow our own way and still be at peace. As Moses’ journey comes to an end, Joshua is called to lead Israel forward. And here we find an important distinction: strength and courage on their own are not enough. Pharaoh had strength, but he used his strength to resist God. See-hone had courage, but he directed his courage down the wrong path. True strength comes from Adonai. True courage comes from trusting His presence. So how do we apply this to our own lives? We need strength to leave our personal “Egypts”—the things that keep us enslaved, stuck, or separated from what Adonai is calling us to leave behind. And we need courage to enter the unknown—the fruitful life He has prepared ahead of us. 🎵 And yes, Sihon gets a mention!
