I have done a cover of Joint Reasoning before but that was an orchestral medley of trial themes from TGAA a long time ago (   • The Trial 2: The Great Ace Attorney [Dai G...  ). I've always wanted to revisit Joint Reasoning. I started off by playing in the bassline. From there, it was a gradual building exercise, adding instruments on top of each over and eventually finishing by including shakers and clapping. The full break down of things acoustically played are: bass guitar, electric guitar, glockenspiel, trombone, saxophone, trumpet (but I scrapped it), hand clapping and a shaker, melodica, trombone and saxophone. If there was one instrument I wish I could have recorded or got someone else to do, it would have been a stringed instrument. Let me know if you are a string player! I was a little selective with certain parts of the arrangement in order to keep the flow and energy (such as the transitions between each section of Joint Reasoning), but most importantly my main aim was to just have fun and enjoy creating this, as cliche as it is to say. Since the original is largely string-instrument based, I had to make some adaptations at times to make it a little more playable for me on certain instruments, such as the sax part and certain articulations on other instruments. This meant direct swaps too: accordion in the original became a melodica. I'm also gradually getting better at recording these videos. Since I record things very spontaneously, keeping track of 25GB of video footage became a huge mess. So if anyone has any workflow tips on video recording in an efficient way that makes editing easier, I'd love to hear it. As always, thanks for watching!
