Annual Discussion Meeting on Civic Engagement for Gender Equality and the Elimination of Discrimination An annual discussion meeting on gender equality and the elimination of discrimination was organized by Democracywatch under its “Civic Engagement for Achieving Gender Equality and Eliminating Discrimination (FACING)” project. The meeting was held on 23 September 2026 in Rangpur City. The meeting focused on the role and responsibilities of citizens in promoting gender equality, ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men, identifying existing gender-based discrimination at the social and institutional levels, and exploring effective measures to eliminate such discrimination. Emphasis was also placed on the collective efforts of government and non-government organizations, elected representatives, members of citizen platforms, and local communities in promoting and strengthening gender equality. The meeting was attended by Advocate Rejeka Sultana Fancy, MP (Reserved Seat-36) as the Chief Guest. Officials from government and non-government organizations, civil society representatives, local community leaders, and representatives from various relevant sectors were also present. Participants shared their views and recommendations on raising awareness to address gender discrimination, strengthening civic participation, and ensuring equal rights, dignity, and opportunities for women and men at all levels of society.
