20 Years Ago, We Documented Japanese Graffiti | RackGaki

Back in 2005/06, Ryo Sanada and I set out to document Japan’s graffiti scene. The result was RackGaki, a book built from the artists, walls, cities and visual culture we encountered along the way. Twenty years later, I’m going back through it. In this episode of Books Worth Looking At, I look at what we were trying to capture, the artists and work that still stand out, and what the book now represents as a document of Japanese graffiti at a particular moment in time.
