Friday, the 25th. Payday.
This month's payslip: ¥333,020 gross, ¥82,875 in deductions,
¥250,145 ($1,563) in my hand. That's ¥53,860 less than last month —
my base pay didn't move at all. Only the overtime did.
Then I laid out everything I spent in August, split into seven:
fixed costs, food, household goods, clothes and beauty,
transport, leisure, savings and investing. ¥274,995 in total.
One of them alone took more than a third. I won't say which one yet.
Along the way: a payday supermarket run where I put ¥799 grapes
in the basket, then went home and reused the same cling film three times.
Both of those people are me. That part never shows up in the numbers.
One to five is money for getting by.
Six is money for living. Seven is money I hand to my future self.
In your country, which one is the biggest?
