Pfretzschner was a German organist and composer of the 19th century. He was born in Plauen and died in Dresden. After his education in Dresden, he became teacher at the conservatory, organist of three churches including after 1864 the Kreuzkirche, and later music director. He had exchanges with Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn and was also active as arranger and transcriptionist of some symphonic music. This chorale setting on Paul Gerhardt's "Nun ruhen alle Wälder" from 1647 (Now all the woods are sleeping) shows his romantic composition style well. It is marked Andantino. Instrument: Johannus Live III, sample: Sauer - Leipzig.
