12 Weirdest Classic TV Shows That Got Cancelled (His Mother Was a Car)

In 1965, NBC gave America a sitcom about a lawyer whose dead mother comes back as a car. These are the 12 weirdest classic TV shows that got cancelled, the forgotten TV shows somebody actually said yes to. A wizard running a car repair garage in San Francisco. A man frozen in a glacier who comes home younger than his own son. A garbage truck in outer space. A robot cop who flips over when someone opens a garage door. Frankenstein's monster with no makeup at all. A reported ten-million-dollar nuclear-powered luxury train that lasted nine episodes. And a comedy so outrageous that a Cleveland station reportedly dropped it about ten minutes in, so it aired exactly once. In this countdown of strange 60s, 70s and 80s TV, we look at the pitches, the time slots, the reviews and the ratings that sank them, and what happened to the stars afterward, from Jerry Van Dyke turning down Gilligan's Island to Supertrain's model train crash before the premiere.
