Yom Kippur in Tel Aviv: When the City Falls Silent

Yom Kippur comes to Tel Aviv with the night. Engines fall silent, the streets fill with people, children fly along the empty roads on bicycles, and the moon is reflected in the glass of skyscrapers. The music is built around brief cantorial phrases from Kol Nidrei. This is a reflection on the promises with which we bind ourselves, on a past that cannot be undone, and on the morning when we may still act differently.
