Gunadala Mary Mata [0:47] Shrine is a famous Christian pilgrimage site located on Gunadala Hill in Vijayawada city, Andhra Pradesh. It is also known as Luthu Mata Temple. [0:59] Every year, lakhs of Christians as well as devotees of other religions come here for darshan. Now [1:09] the place you are watching is the empty space on the top of the hill . In 1923 , the Italian missionary Mons Hugh Pizzoni [1:44] provided land for the establishment of an orphanage school in the Gunadala area. In 1924, Father P. Arlati [1:52] installed a small statue of Our Lady of Lourdes in a natural cave on Gunadala Hill. [1:59] Father Paolo Arlati is an Italian man. He is a missionary of the organization PIME Potential PIME. [2:07] He is one of the prominent missionaries who laid the foundation [2:14] for the development of the shrine of Mother Mary in Gunadala [2:20] . If we want to know interesting facts about Father Arlati, we should know [2:26] that Arlati was the first administrator of the development of Gunadala. In 1920-23, [2:32] after Mons Hux Penchoni acquired land in Gunadala, [2:39] Father Arlati was appointed as the first administrator of the St. Joseph Orphanage and Educational Institution [2:46] . The forest was converted into a service center. The Gunadala area [2:52] was then filled with bushes and forests. Father Arladi, along with the workers, cleaned the area and laid the foundation for the construction of orphanage schools. [3:05] The first statue of Mother Mary was installed on Gunadala Hill [3:11] . In 1925, Brother Arladi made a small path on the hill and installed a small statue of Mother Lourdes in a natural cave [3:21] . This is how devotion to Mother Mary began in Gunadala. [3:30] As the number of devotees gradually increased, a new statue of Mother Mary [3:37] was installed in 1937. The number of devotees has increased very much.
