'Odontoid' is a semi-permanent monumental sculpture designed and installed for Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild. It is designed to function as a site for relaxation, meeting, and a garden, but most importantly it is a social space for building oddkin. The work incorporates a myriad of perennial keystone plant species endemic to the Montana Valley and Foothill Prairies Ecoregion; which are beneficial for pollinators, as well as being both edible and medicinal for humans; while also inoculating the structure's materials with mycelium as well as creating opportunities for lichen and mosses to take hold. In doing so, Odontoid establishes a social space for promoting cooperative relationships across the four kingdoms of multicellular organisms: animalia, fungi, plantae and protistas.
