Welcome to Lecture Number 32 of Chemical Bonding by HP Sir In this lecture, we continue our detailed study of Molecular Orbital Theory (MOT) and understand the important conditions required for the combining of Atomic Orbitals to form Molecular Orbitals. We will then discuss Sigma (σ) Molecular Orbitals and Pi (π) Molecular Orbitals in detail, including their formation and representation. Further, we will learn how to write the Electronic Configuration of Molecular Orbitals for molecules having more than 14 electrons and for molecules having up to 14 electrons. Finally, we will understand the concept of Bond Order and learn how to calculate Bond Order using Molecular Orbital Theory. This lecture is an important part of the Chemical Bonding Zero to Advanced Series and builds the foundation for understanding Molecular Orbital Diagrams, stability of molecules, bond strength, bond length and magnetic behaviour in upcoming lectures. The concepts are explained from the basics with a focus on JEE Mains & Advanced, NEET and Olympiad preparation. This lecture is especially useful for students who want to develop a strong conceptual understanding of Molecular Orbital Theory and confidently solve numerical and conceptual questions.
