On Instagram, Chitixa Patel is the strong woman lifting heavy and winning medals. Behind the camera, the story is very different.
A miscarriage in 2015. Depression and anxiety. Court dates and a divorce. A phase where she had no confidence, no faith and no direction left. From there, she rebuilt herself step by step: a play school job, a Health and Fitness Management course, a small studio, and finally FitJiyo Fitness, a women-only gym in Vadodara. Along the way she stepped on the bodybuilding stage and came back with Gold in Bikini and the Overall Championship in Street Model.
In this conversation with Harsh Kothari, Chitixa talks openly about:
Being told "you exist because of me", and building her own identity anyway
Police stations by day and the gym at 8 pm: what her competition prep really looked like
What actually stops women from going to the gym, and how to answer family objections
Whether lifting weights makes women bulky
Fitness with PCOS/PCOD, after pregnancy and after 40
Whether roti, dal and rice are the problem, and where vegetarians can get protein
A real coach vs a ChatGPT diet plan
Why privacy, safety and community matter in a women-only gym
If you, or a woman in your family, want to start a fitness journey or are going through a hard phase in life, watch this one till the end.
This conversation is in Hindi.
