Summit Sculpture with Hammer and Chisel: The Carrara Marble Quarry Disaster

In this video, I take you on a journey that is as fascinating as it is painful along the ridges of the Apuan Alps. Walking among the debris and the stone giants wounded by marble extraction, I address one of the most dramatic environmental and landscape issues in our region: the devastation of the mountain and the pollution caused by reckless quarrying. At the summit, atop a massive block of marble discarded and abandoned after the mountain's destruction, I decided to give a voice to the stone. Using only hand tools—hammer, chisel, and a lot of patience—I carved a face directly on-site as a symbol of resistance and remembrance for a mountain that is disappearing.
