Bhat ki Dupke, Madwa ki Roti, Gehat ki dal & Bhang ki Chatni -- Kumaoni Cuisine | Kumaon 2021 Part12

Local cuisine of Kumayun, Uttarakhand has many popular dishes, I would specially mention Dupke prepared from Bhat ki Dal with Madwa ki roti taken with Bhang ki chatni. Another popular dal among common Kumaoni people is Gehat ki dal. We had this opportunity to taste Kumaoni cuisine at our hotel Pinewood, instead of terming this as hotel I would like to call this as a Homestay, the owner's family resides down stairs and they take care of food and other necessities. On our special request, they prepared local cuisine like Dupke using Bhat ki Dal, Bhang ki chatni, Madwa ki roti and Gehat ki dal. This Kumaoni Lady, elder sister of the owner, prepared each of these items in very authentic Kumaoni style. Each item was equally tasty, however, the Dupke, bhang ki chatni and Madwa ki Roti was more than exceptional. I must say we were lucky enough that we got the opportunity to get the taste of such homemade Kumaoni food. 100% recommended.
