Who lived in the Indian subcontinent before Muslims arrived?
This historical documentary explores the long history of South Asia before the first major Muslim political expansion into Sindh. From the Indus Valley and Harappan civilization to later Indo-Gangetic cultures, the Mauryan Empire, Kushan period, Gupta era, and the diverse regional kingdoms of early medieval South Asia, this documentary follows the chronological story of the subcontinent.
The documentary also examines the Arab campaign in Sindh under Muhammad ibn Qasim in 711 CE and explains why this event should not be confused with the conquest of the entire Indian subcontinent.
This is the story of the civilizations, cultures, religions, societies and political powers that existed before and around the beginning of Muslim political rule in South Asia.
